Gitmo Blues

Dick Cheney has finally come out to quell any real suspicions that the prison at Guantanamo Bay should be shut down. And as I mentioned here, and here, there is no point to moving the prison, because the same complaints will follow at each and every place where the terrorists are kept.

The problem is not Gitmo, the conditions at the prison, the treatment of the Koran, or anything else. The problem is that these prisoners know how to pluck the heartstrings of the left who report to the like-minded western media that these prisoners aren't happy, which must mean that our soldiers are mistreating them. The hogwash about improperly handling the Koran, or putting it on top or beneath certain things, or failing to put it in a sterile cloth, (while the inmates are free to shred and flush these same copies) is equally meaningless. It is a pretext to get them released because their feelings were hurt.

But if they want to be moved so badly, rather than relegating them to the tropics where one can smell the ocean, I suggest removing them to the comforts of the Aleutian Islands off of Alaska. I hear it is much cooler there than in Cuba.
