Biden Makes Public Statements, Fool of Self

Sen. Joseph Biden (D-DE) is probably one of the most useless people to occupy a seat in the Senate. And among his credentials is his holding of the presidency of his own one-member fan club. This Senator is not but a bunch of hot air, big words, and no real substance. He has a strong history of plagiarism which derailed his presidential bid in 1988. He is quick to get himself on
camera for just about any issue that makes the front page, and while he basks in the glow of the camera light, he never seems to directly answer any questions posed to him, other than simply to pontificate about whatever glorious topic earned him a cherished spot on TV. The sad part is that Joe Biden's appearances are very effective at proving just how hopelessly irrelevant he is.

So now, taking the side of Amnesty International, Biden proposes closing down the prison at Guantanamo Bay, stating that imprisoning terrorists has become the greatest propaganda tool for recruiting terrorists. So putting these people away in a prison camp that does everything but put a mint on their pillow at night by prison standards, in order to prevent further terrorist attacks is a recruitment tool?

Actually, no. The greatest propaganda tool for recruiting terrorists is the perception that the United States is weak because it fears to offend their culture and so fails to defend itself. That conclusion is simple to reach. Under the Clinton Administration, we were hit five times (two of those in one day in the case of the embassy bombings). Clinton promised to respond, but did
. His inaction was provocative to Al Qaeda. They fear reprisal, they are emboldened by empty threats. To prove the point, how many terrorist acts have been committed against us since we want on the offensive against terror after 9/11?

But Biden, having no need for the lessons of history makes this brilliant suggestion;

But the end result is, I think we should end up shutting it down, moving those prisoners...Those that we have reason to keep, keep. And those we don't, let go.

Genius. Read it carefully. We shut down Gitmo because it is the basis for terrorist recruiting, we keep the bad guys and let go of the not so bad ones. But then we move the prisoners. But we still keep them.

So now I'm confused. Is he suggesting that the terrorists are lining up recruits because their brethren are incarcerated, or just because they are incarcerated in Cuba? Because suggesting movement of prisoners, absent any other reason, seems to lead to such a ridiculous conclusion. What's so wrong with a prison on an inaccessible military base half a world away from those who would most likely want to spring these characters? Will it be acceptable to hold the "bad" ones just so long as it's not at Gitmo? And where would we move them? Why would we want to go to the expense?

Or am I reading too much into this? Is it simply that Joe Biden wants to hear himself talk and really has no idea what he is talking about? Given years of listening to his egomaniacal stupidity, I can only imagine that this is yet another example of Biden's mouth proving him a complete fool. But not to worry. Biden can simply lift the words from a Joe Lieberman or Nancy Pelosi speech, as both of them are pretty universally regarded as smart and witty.

But then he has to memorize it all...
